WHAT WE BELIEVE
The following are the core beliefs of Oak Grove Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
We believe there is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16-7, John 14:9-10
Creation
We believe God is the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. He is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy.
Genesis 1:1, Acts 17:24-28
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only Son and Savior of the world. It is only through faith in Christ that we are made right with God.
John 3:16, Matthew 1:18, John 20:24-31
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every Christian. He works to convince, empower and equip us for our ministry here on earth.
John 16:5-15
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. the Bible is our final authority for all matters of faith.
Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16
The Fall
We believe that man and woman, created by God, willfully sinned, and as a result, are lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:17
Salvation
We believe salvation (the forgiveness of sins) comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us (His death upon the cross). The Bible teaches us that the pattern of Salvation is to believe in Christ as God's Son and Savior of the world, to repent (ask for forgiveness) of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord (ask Him to lead your life), and to be immersed in baptism.
Matthew 26:28, Romans 5:8-11, Ephesians 2:8-9, Luke 24:45-47, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-7, 2 Peter 3:9
The Church
We believe the Church is the visible body of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere, designed to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:13-18, Acts 2:14-47
Eternity
We believe death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit eternal life; the unsaved, eternal separation from God.
Romans 8:10-11, Daniel 12:2, John 6:47
Marriage
We believe the Bible teaches that God intends marriage to be a monogamous, life-long, loving relationship between a man and a woman and that His design for sex is exclusively within the context of a Biblical marriage.
Genesis 1:28, 2:24, 9:7, Matthew 19:6
Church Structure
We believe it is God's plan for the elders to shepherd the local church. OGCC is an elder led church.
Acts 20:28, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4
